Watchnight

On the last night of the year, in church, there was a little dinner party.

And there was a man in a yellow shirt with an umbrella in his hand sitting on his own.

I had never seen him before.

He looked angry at something.

A while later, a friend came up to the clique I was with and told us to watch our things because there was a suspicious character around.

And so I ask, before we got all suspicious and judgmental of the new guy, did anyone offer him a glass of cold water and welcome him in?

Was anyone wondering why he would come into church in the first place?

  1. i think people knew who he was. so they would have had reason to warn others. anyway i was just passing along a message.

of course not saying shouldn't try and be friendly, but it's easier and safer for guys to do that i guess.

  2. I asked around and found no one who knew who he was.

We're in a crowded hall, is there really an issue of safety?

  3. someone told me he was from chinese service, so surely at least one person knew who he was. dunno who started the first message of being careful anyway, but they must've had reason for it.
