Batman Inc.

In recent episodes of the Batman comics, Bruce Wayne announced that he has been financing Batman all this while, although still saying that he is not Batman.

Having done that, he begins Batman Inc., which franchises Batmen to major cities in the world.

Well, the latest comic is based in France, where we find a new character, Nightrunner.

He's a Muslim youth by the name of Billai Asseiah who is rising up above the racial and religious tension, trying to stop further tension and violence from escalating. Of course, he can't do that as a Muslim youth- his very religion makes it seem like he has taken a side.

And so he dawns the symbol of a bat, and goes out to try to make a difference.

I like the premise. While Bruce Wayne lost his parents to crime, this guy lost his best friend to racial tension and violence. And this makes for great storytelling. Fighting racial clashes the way you fight crime. So relevant and real to our world today.

But then there are those who cried out against a Muslim takes the mantle of the french Batman. Yeah so he grew up in France all his life but he's not worthy of being the French Batman because he's not white? And they complained that the writers were putting a criminal in the shoes of the ultimate crime fighter.

Oh my goodness. The irony of all of this.
Looks like the world really does need batman to fight racism.

I'll put my money behind Billai. I'm buying this comic.
